GStage

GStage is an attempt to emulate the Global Stage IRCd. There were many bugs in the server that allowed for spoofing channels and otherwise messing with IRC clients. Nothing was particularly fatal unless you had poorly written scripts using cheap authentications schemes.
More importantly, it was where #malkier originated, where I met rakaur, and started learning how to program (which is now my bread and butter). Unfortunately, as you may have learned on malkier.net, due to the actions of a user named Barbarella, irc.scifi.com (the site running Global Stage) entered a swift downward spiral leading to the eventual and permanent shutdown of the server.
Though I hated it then, I feel nostalgic for the old chat and am working towards a complete rebuild from scratch of the entire server, quirks and all. Hopefully it will emulate all of the shortcomings, but feature none of the instability. So far the first item is a check. I’ll get back to you on the second.
